How to Restore iPod From Backup

Each time you sync your iPod with your computer, you create a backup of your iPod on your computer's hard drive. Should you ever run into issues with the device, you can simply restore it from the backup on your computer and get back listening to your favorite tunes.

Instructions

    • 1

Connect your iPod to the computer where the backup is located using the USB cable included with your iPod.

    • 2

Launch iTunes if it does not open by itself.

    • 3

Select your iPod from the "Device" menu on the left side of the iTunes screen.

    • 4

Click the "Sync" button on the bottom right side of the screen to begin restoring your iPod. A status bar will appear at the top of the iTunes screen and will disappear when the syncing process is complete.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can change what is stored on your iPod by selecting it from the Device list and then making changes in the various menus that appear: Music, Movies, TV Shows, Podcasts. Click "Apply" and then "Sync" on the bottom right side of the screen to have those changes take effect.

  • Do not select the "Restore" option in iTunes unless you want to return the iPod to its original factory settings.
