How to Enhance CPU Speed
The CPU, which stands for central processing unit, is the component of a computer that performs most of the data processing. The CPU is the device that accesses your computer's memory, so it affects the speed at which your system runs. A PC with a Windows operating system comes equipped with many features that allow you to improve and enhance your CPU speed.

Use the Disk Cleanup tool to free up hard drive space. Click "Start" in the bottom-left corner of the screen. Double-click the "All Programs" or "Programs" option. Double-click "Accessories." Double-click "System Tools." Double-click "Disk Cleanup."

Allow Disk Cleanup to calculate how much space you can free. Check the files you wish to remove under "Files to Delete." Click "OK."

Remove unnecessary software and programs. Click "Start" and double-click "Control Panel." Double click "Uninstall a Program." Uninstall the software that you don't need.

Use the Disk Defragmenter to restore bad hard drive sectors. Click "Start." Type "Disk Defragmenter" in the "Start Search" or "Help" field. Double-click Disk Defragmenter. Click "Analyze." Click "Defragment" to defrag your "C" drive.

Open the Recycle Bin. Click "Empty the Recycle Bin" to free more hard drive space. Computer files and data are not completely removed until they are emptied from the Recycle Bin.
