How do I Scroll With a Kensington Orbital Trackball?

How do I Scroll With a Kensington Orbital Trackball? thumbnail
Kensington has turned the mouse into more than just a point and click device.

The Kensington Orbit Trackball allows for customized cursor control and user-specified scrolling. A trackball differs from a mouse in that it requires less wrist movement and ultimately provides a more comfortable experience for the consumer. The Kensington Orbit Trackball is both PC and Mac compatible. In addition, the company provides free downloadable software for its customers which can be used to optimize the trackball functions, including setting the scrolling speed and direction.

Instructions

    • 1

Plug the trackball into your computer using the USB cable. Once the computer detects the new hardware, you may begin scrolling immediately. Scrolling options are controlled by the use of the scroll ring in the center or by the large buttons to the left and right of the scroll ring.

    • 2

Scroll left or right by turning the scroll ring in the appropriate direction, or by clicking on the button to the left or right of the ring. If you are left-handed, the Kensington Orbit Trackball instruction guide explains how you may use your Windows control panel or Mac's system preferences to switch the left and right buttons.

    • 3

Touch and navigate the scroll ring in an upward motion to scroll up on a page and in a downward motion to scroll down on a page. Many users experience an out of control scrolling experience when navigating up and down with a ring. Kensington provides scroll ring sensitivity adjustment in the instruction guide as well. This adjustment must also be made through your Window's control panel or Mac's system preferences.
