Flashing a Ricoh copier allows you to update the operating system, load features, update firmware and correct software system errors. The Ricoh 2045 is a digital copier that receives operating system and firmware updates. As new software is developed, flashing helps to install the software on the copier's hard drive.

Instructions

    • 1

Download the flash update to a USB thumb drive. These updates are available at Ricoh's support page or through emails to registered technicians or Ricoh dealers. If you can access and download the update, save it to the USB drive.

    • 2

Turn off the copier. Not doing so will cause incomplete flashing or prevent the flashing.

    • 3

Connect a loaded USB drive to a USB port on the copier and turn it on. If you cannot locate the USB drive, you may need to remove the side panels at the back of the copier. If the copier has more than one USB slot and does not respond when connecting the thumb drive, it is not activated. Use another activated USB port.

    • 4

Once the update is recognized, flashing will begin automatically. Depending on the update or software being flashed, you may need to respond to questions that appear on the copier's touch-screen display.

    • 5

Remove the USB drive and restart the copier. After the copier reboots, the flash is complete.
