DIY Metal Polishing
Polishing metal is not a difficult task that requires you to be an expert metallurgist or a metal polishing enthusiast. Unlike polishing leather, polishing metal doesn't require a lot of elbow grease, just a bit of patience and some metal polish. Adequate metal polish is sold just about anywhere that sells cleaning supplies and the rest of the materials you'll need are available at hardware stores, or anywhere that sells hardware materials. Things You'll Need
- Water
- Dish soap
- Dishwashing sponge
- Rag
- Paper towels (optional)
- Sandpaper (low-grit)
- Metal polish

Clean the metal thoroughly with water, dish soap and a dishwashing sponge.

Dry off the metal with a clean, dry rag or paper towels.

Sand down the metal with light-grained sandpaper just enough to scuff up the metal evenly. Don't apply too much pressure.

Wipe the metal clean of sanding dust, using a clean, dry rag or paper towels.

Pour about a quarter-sized amount of metal polish onto the metal and rub it in thoroughly with a dry, clean cloth. Repeat this step until the metal is shiny and free of scuffing from the sandpaper.
