How to Use a Mad Catz Xbox 360 Controller for Oblivion on a PC
Xbox 360 controllers, such as the Mad Catz controller, can be easily connected for use with games. This includes “The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion,” which does support using controllers despite not recommending the use of controllers for the PC version. The Mad Catz Xbox 360 controller needs to be connected to your computer before it can be used. Once connected, it will immediately be usable with “Oblivion.”

Exit out of “The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion” if it is currently running.

Plug the Xbox 360 wireless gaming receiver into a USB port on your computer.

Hold down the “Xbox” button on the Mad Catz Xbox 360 controller to turn it on.

Press the "Connect" button on the wireless gaming receiver. It is the only button on the receiver.

Press the "Connect" button on the Mad Catz controller. It is the small button on the top edge of the controller.

Wait for the lights on the controller to stop flashing. This indicates the Xbox 360 controller is connected to your computer.

Start “The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.” You will now be able to use the Mad Catz controller to play the game. You can edit the button functions through the options menu.

Tips & Warnings
There is a reason why it is not recommended to use an Xbox 360 controller to play “The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion” on the PC, even though there is an Xbox 360 version of the game. The Xbox 360 version has an interface specifically designed to be manipulated by the Xbox 360 controller, while the PC version is designed to use a mouse and keyboard to control it. You will not be able to map most of the commands to the Mad Catz controller buttons on the PC version, even though the Xbox 360 version had ways of accessing all of these commands with an Xbox 360 controller.
