How to Check If Logitech Computer Speakers Are Working thumbnail
Look for a green 3.5 mm jack and plug the corresponding green plug into it.

Logitech manufactures a series of after-market computer speakers, including regular stereo speakers, surround sound, laptop and computer speaker systems with separate woofers for improved bass response. All of the speakers plug into the computer's sound card in one way or another. Most of the speakers have volume controls on them. Checking if your Logitech computer speakers are working is a matter of following some steps.

Instructions

    • 1

Plug the computer speakers' main connecting speaker into the computer's sound card. On a desktop computer, the sound card is accessible at the back of the tower. Look for a green 3.5 mm jack and plug the corresponding green plug into it. On a laptop, the sound card may be hidden. Look for a jack with a headphone icon on it and plug the green 3.5 mm speaker plug from the main connecting speaker into it.

Attach any peripherals to the main connecting speaker that's in turn connected to the sound card. For example, the left and right speakers may need to be connected to the woofer speaker which is providing the connection to the sound card. The woofer speaker in this case is the main connecting speaker. In a surround-type installation numerous speakers may need connecting to the main device like the woofer. In an ordinary stereo setup, one speaker may be connected to the sound card and the other speaker connects to the sound card-connected speaker. In other setups, the left speaker connects to the woofer and the right speaker to the sound card.

Plug any power cords into the household power and into any adapters and then into the speaker system. If the speakers are powered, they will have a power plug jack. Make sure you use any AC adapter that came with the speakers.

    • 4

Play some audio on the computer and gradually increase the volume on the speakers if they have a volume knob. Sometimes they have a bass volume knob too. If you hear audio, the speakers are working.

    • 5

Click on the Audio icon in the toolbar and increase the volume if you didn't hear audio in Step 4. Un-check Mute.

Tips & Warnings

  • If your speakers still do not produce sound, you could try plugging the speakers into another audio device with a 3.5 mm plug, such as an mp3 player, or you could plug in speakers you know are working into the computer to see if the sound card has a problem.
