Instructions

    • 1

Purchase a replacement touchscreen and LCD assembly for your DS Lite. Several online retailers, including Overstock, offer replacement touchscreens and LCDs.

    • 2

Lay your DS Lite face down on a table. Remove the battery by loosening the captive screw on the battery door. Lift off the battery door and pry up the battery. Locate the rubber pads near the "L" and "R" buttons. These pads cover screws. Pry up the pads carefully with a flat-head screwdriver.

    • 3

Remove the seven screws holding the bottom cover of your DS Lite in place. There are three Phillips screws and four triwing screws. Gently pry the bottom case from the rest of the unit with your finger.

    • 4

Remove the "L" and "R" buttons. The buttons are connected to tension springs; do not lose them or your buttons will be useless. Try to work the buttons and springs off of the motherboard as one whole unit. They should just pop off of the motherboard.

    • 5

Disconnect the three cables to the left of the DS card slot from the motherboard. One is white, another is black and the final one is copper. The copper cable is connected by a black plastic lock. Flip the hinge up on the lock and pop the cable out.

    • 6

Remove the two Phillips screws holding the LCD screen in place. There are white circles around the screws on the motherboard. Push on the back of the screen carefully to lift it up. Don't push too far, as the screen is still connected to the motherboard. Disconnect the cable running from the screen to the motherboard. Flip the latch securing the cable to the motherboard and pop the cable out of the lock. Remove the LCD touchscreen completely.

Replace the LCD touchscreen assembly with your new display. Reconnect the cables and replace the screws connecting it to the motherboard. Reassemble your DS Lite.
