Mac computers no longer come with a built in parallel port connection often used for printers. It is still possible to directly print from the hardware by connecting the printer to the Mac computer with a USB to a parallel cable adapter. This allows the parallel cable from the printer to connect to any USB port on the Mac computer system.

  • Parallel cable
  • USB to parallel adapter
  • Driver installation CD (provided)

Instructions

      Connect the USB end of the adapter cable into one of the USB ports on the Mac computer.

      Attach the parallel end of the adapter onto one of the sides of the parallel cable. Connect the opposite end of the parallel cable into the parallel port on the computer.

      Power on the computer and the parallel printer (if neither are currently on).

      Insert the driver installation CD into the disc drive of the Mac computer. In a moment the installation wizard appears on the screen.

      Click "Next," then accept any user agreement give to your. Select "Mac HD" as the installation location. Click "Install" to install the drivers onto your computer.

      Open the document you want to print. Choose "File," "Print" and the printer information window loads onto the screen. Select the parallel printer form the printer selection menu. Click "OK." The parallel printer now prints the selected document on your Mac computer.
