How to Stop Internet Explorer 7 From Accessing the C Drive

The Microsoft web browser Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) stores numerous temporary files on the computer's hard drive each time you surf the Internet. The default location of the temporary Internet files called the browsing history is the hard drive "C." To stop IE7 from accessing the disk "C," for example if you are running out of space on this particular drive, you need to specify a different disk for storing temporary files using the browser menu settings.

Instructions

    • 1

      Open Internet Explorer 7.

    • 2

Click the menu "Tools" and then select "Internet Options."

    • 3

Click the tab "General" in the Internet options window.

    • 4

Click the button "Settings" under "Browsing History."

    • 5

Click the button "Move folder." It opens the window "Browse for Folder."

    • 6

Select another hard drive, typically "D:" in the folder browse window. Then click "OK" to set a different destination for Internet temporary files.
