How to Scan to Photoshop

Adobe Photoshop is one of the most widely used photo-editing applications on the market. It can be used to alter or repair images in various formats, from digital camera shots to printed images. However, in order to edit an already printed image, you need to bring it into the program. Fortunately, Photoshop integrates with you scanner software in such a way that you can directly import the scanned image for editing. This can save a lot of time when you have a lot of images to scan.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the image that you want to scan into Photoshop onto your scanner bed and close the lid. If the document is too large to fit on the scanner bed, you will have to scan in sections and assemble them into a single image later.

    • 2

Open Photoshop. Select "File" from the menu and choose "Import." From the options listed, choose "Select Twain."

    • 3

Select the scanner you want to use from those listed in the dialog that appears. Then hit "Select." This will open your scanner software.

    • 4

Click on "Preview" scan. Use the scanner software's "Crop" tool to select the specific section of the image that you want to use.

    • 5

Click on "Scan." This will bring the image into a new document in Photoshop and close the scanner software.
