How to Obtain a Marriage License Online
Technology today makes it easy to obtain a marriage license online. In times past, you had to wait in long lines instead of spending your time planning the big event. Now, with a few simple steps, you can get your marriage license online without wasting time or breaking up your wedding planning. If you are just in need of a copy of your past marriage license, you can also obtain that online.

1
Apply via the county in which you want to marry. The county will usually ask both of you to appear in person to pick up the license. Fill out the application completely to expedite the process.
-
2
Type your choice for married last name. The system will ask each of you to choose a name. Traditionally, the woman takes on her husband's last name; technically the husband and wife can choose to change either of their names or none at all.

3
Pay the marriage license fee. Payment modes will appear on the county website. Click the payment icon to pay with your credit card. You may also mail a money order or check, if you are not in a hurry.

Get blood tests. Six states, and the District of Columbia, require a blood test before issuing a marriage license. The six states are: Georgia, Indiana, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Montana and Oklahoma. If you applied online, you must take these test results with you when picking up your license.
