Released in 2008, "LittleBigPlanet" allows you to build a virtual world of your own. As you work your way through the game, you unlock more construction materials and fasteners for creating various items. Fortunately for the clueless, some clever players discovered a way to build a functioning zip line using a few basic parts and a well placed sponge cube.

Instructions

  1. Instructions

    • 1

Enter the "LittleBigPlanet" creator and start with a flat stretch of ground.

    • 2

Select "Materials" from the Popit menu, scroll down to "cardboard" and select "cube." Scale up the cube so that it is approximately five times as tall as your sack person. Position the cube outline just above the ground, hold down the "Build" button and slide the cube upwards, thereby creating a cardboard tower.

    • 3

Shrink down the cube outline box slightly and position the outline against the right edge of the tower just below the top edge. Click the "Cut Away" button to erase a large portion of the tower, leaving a roofed platform at the top of your cardboard structure.

    • 4

Change the construction shape from "cube" to "triangle." Increase the triangle outline's size to three times greater than its default size and rotate the shape until the long edge (hypotenuse) slants to the right 10 to 15 degrees below the horizon.

    • 5

Position one corner of the triangle outline's slanted edge against the roof of your tower platform. Press the "Build" button to construct your large triangle. Lower the triangle outline very slightly and click the "Cut Away" button. As result, you will have a thin ramp slanting downward toward the ground from your tower roof.

    • 6

Change the construction shape from "triangle" to "cylinder." Build a small cylinder above the ramp. When you activate the physics of the level, the cylinder should roll down the ramp.

    • 7

Create a sponge cylinder just below the ramp under the first cylinder. Sack people are only able to grab onto sponges, making this step very important. Without a sponge, your zip line is useless.

    • 8

Connect both cylinders by building a small cardboard rectangle. Position the rectangle behind both cylinders and then fasten both cylinders to the cardboard with fasteners of your choice.

    • 9

Position your sack person on the tower platform. When your sack person grabs onto the sponge cylinder, the attached cardboard cylinder above the ramp will slide down the ramp, creating a zip line effect. Decorate your zip line as desired.

Tips & Warnings

  • Adjust the length and angle of your zip line ramp to calibrate speed of descent.

  • Build a stopper on the end of the ramp to prevent the zip line cylinders from sliding off.
