How to Connect a PS1 Controller to a PC

How to Connect a PS1 Controller to a PC thumbnail
Connect your video game controller to a Windows computer.

PlayStation and PlayStation 2 video game systems use the same basic controller and connection port (although not all PS game systems have the rumble-back thumbsticks on the front of the controller). If you like the overall look and feel of your PlayStation controller, it is possible to hook it up to your computer via USB connection port.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Insert the USB data cable running out of the adapter into one of the USB ports on the computer system.

    • 2

Connect the serial controller port coming out of the PlayStation controller into one of the connection ports on the adapter (these adapters have anywhere from one to four connection ports).

    • 3

Insert the driver installation CD into the disc drive of the computer and wait for the installation wizard to load onto the screen.

    • 4

Select "Next," then scroll through and accept the license agreement. Leave the installation name and location as the default settings, then click "Install" and the drivers for the adapter install onto the computer. You are now ready to begin using your PlayStation or PlayStation 2 controller on the computer system.
