How to Detect an MSN Virus

How to Detect an MSN Virus thumbnail
If MSN Messenger behaves unusually, it may be infected with a virus.

Viruses can infect any program on your computer. Even if you are protecting your computer using anti-virus software and a firewall, viruses may still potentially infect a program. If you have a copy of MSN Messenger installed on your computer and it is not behaving as it should, there is a possibility that a virus has infected the program. Usually, running an anti-virus scan is enough to rid your computer of threats. But in the case of MSN viruses, you may need to run a special tool designed to eliminate MSN viruses.

Instructions

  1. MSN Virus Removal

    • 1

Run an anti-virus scan. To do this, you will need an anti-virus program installed on your computer. If you do not have an anti-virus program installed, you can download a copy of a program online. There are many options to choose from, both free and paid. Many paid anti-virus programs that are available online have a "trial" version, usually good for 30 free days of use. To scan for viruses, find the "Scan" button in your program's menu.

    • 2

Follow the directions your anti-virus program gives you after the scan has completed. If any viruses have been detected, the program will guide you through the process to remove them. Generally, these programs will remove infections automatically, although you may have to take action in some cases. When finished, exit out of your anti-virus program.

Either save the file to your computer or run it directly from the website.
