How to Change RAM in an Inspiron 1501
Changing out the RAM modules in your Inspiron 1501 may be necessary for upgrade or repair purposes. If your current RAM configuration is making your computer error out, or you find that your computer is running too slow, changing out the RAM for functional modules (or larger modules) can vastly improve your computing experience.

Turn off your Inspiron 1501, close the lid and turn it upside down. Slide the battery release latch to the left and pull out the battery.

Unplug the computer and then unscrew and remove the memory module cover situated directly below the battery release latch.

Pop out the RAM that is currently installed by spreading apart the clips that hold the modules in place. This causes the RAM to pop up and you can slide the modules out of their slots.

Slide the new memory modules into their slots and press down on them until they are secure.

Screw the memory module cover back on and put the battery back in the computer.
