How to Construct a Weightlifting Bench
A weight bench is an important piece of equipment for anyone wanting to use free weights. It is a versatile and effective piece of equipment. Weight benches are also used to perform the most popular weight lifting exercise, the bench press. Weight benches are expensive, however. They are much cheaper if you make them yourself.
Things You'll Need
- 2, 5 1/2 inch-by-1 1/2-inch pieces of wood, length will be determined in Step One
- 7, two-by-fours, 11 inches long
- 32 drywall screws, 3 inches long

Measure from the top of your head to just below your buttocks.

Cut the 5 1/2-by-1 1/2 inch boards to the length from Step One.

Lay the boards next to each other and screw a two-by-four into the middle of the boards using four screws.

With the board upside down, stand four two-by-fours at the ends of the board to form legs. There is two on each end.

Use the remaining two two-by-fours next to the legs to help stabilize the legs. These should be screwed into the top of the legs and the bench with one on each end.
