Create your own website with pictures and video for free.

Websites are helpful both for work and professional purposes and just to share photos and video of special events with family and friends. Building a website can be a difficult and expensive process if you're starting from scratch. However, several web hosts allow you to register for a subdomain of their own domain for free, and they provide you with easy-to-use tools and templates to make your own website that include videos and pictures.

Instructions

Wordpress

1. Go to the Wordpress homepage and click "Sign up now," and type in your new username and password. Enter your email address to confirm registration and click the "Create blog" link.

2. Click "Appearances," which is under the "Themes" section in the column on the left. Choose a template design for your blog and click "Apply." Click "Add Post" to start your first post. Enter text in the box, tags in the "Tags" section on the right, and choose a category.

3. Click the "Images" icon, which is a small square picture in the toolbar, and find the pictures on your computer you want to use. Click "Select."

4. Find the video online that you want to use and copy the embed code beneath it. Click the "HTML" tab on the top right of your post, and paste the code in. Click "Preview" to view your website and check for errors, then click "Publish."

Blogger

1. Go to the Blogger homepage and click "Sign me up." Type in your new username and password, then enter your email address to register.

2. Browse the templates on the next page and select one, then click "Apply to blog." Click "New post" and enter text, then type in tags in the tag box beneath the post.

3. Click the "Images" icon, which is a small square picture in the toolbar, and find the pictures on your computer you want to use. Click "Select."

4. Find the video online that you want to use and copy the embed code beneath it. Click the "HTML" tab on the top right of your post, and paste the code in. Click "Preview" to view your website and check for errors, then click "Publish post."

Tumblr

1. Go to the Tumblr homepage and type in your email address, a new password and a name for your website, then click "Sign up."

2. Click "Themes" to select a design template, then click "Appearance" to change the color of the images and text.

3. Click "Text" and enter text into the post box. Click "Upload photo" on the top right to select and import pictures from your computer. Click "Publish" when you are finished.

4. Go to your dashboard and click "Video" on the top right. Select "Embed video" and paste in the embed code, or select "Upload a video," choose the file from your computer, and click "Upload." Click "Publish" when you are finished.

5. Select "Text" and enter a title and information into the text box. Click the picture icon to upload a photo from your computer to accompany the text. Click "Preview to view your post, then select "Create post."

Tips & Warnings

• Upload your video online, if it is saved on your computer, so you can use that website's embed code.
