How to Change an Acer 3680 Laptop LCD Screen
Even though the Acer 3680 is a budget laptop computer, it comes equipped with a quality LCD screen. But like any sensitive component on a computer, it can be prone to wear and tear over time. If you have a broken or damaged LCD screen on your Acer, you should replace it as soon as possible. This process will require some time and concentration but it can be successfully completed even if you don't know that much about electronics.

1
Turn off your Acer laptop and slide the battery out of its compartment on the underside of the computer.
-
2
Close the LCD screen and turn the laptop around so that you are facing the back of the screen hinges.
-
-
3
Remove the two screws (one on each side) from the back corners of the laptop. These are the screws that hold the keyboard in place.
-
4
Turn the computer around and fully open the LCD screen so that you have full access to the keyboard. Locate the rectangular plastic frame just above the keyboard and lift it up at the edges to remove it.
-
5
Remove the two screws just above the keyboard and lift the keyboard up by the top and place it face down over the touch pad. Some screen cables will now be visible just below the screen on the top of the computer. Unplug them from their ports.
-
6
Remove the four screws (two on each side) from each corner of the top of the computer, just below the LCD screen.
-
7
Lift the screen off of the computer and place it face up on a sturdy work surface.
-
8
Use the tip of your screwdriver to pop the rubber screw covers off of the plastic frame surrounding the LCD screen. Then remove all six of the screws. Four are located on the top of the frame and two are located at the corners on the bottom.
-
9
Pry the plastic frame off of the screen by the corners.
-
10
Unplug the cable from the side of the inverter board located just below the LCD screen and then remove the board.
-
11
Remove the five screws from the metal frame that holds the screen to the back of the housing.
-
12
Lift the screen slightly up from the back cover and unplug the ribbon cable that connects to the back of it.
-
13
Remove the two screws on the metal bracket on the right side of the screen. Then remove the two screws from the bracket on the left side.
-
14
Slide the screen out of the brackets and replace with a new one. Attach the ribbon cable to the port in the back and reassemble your computer in the reverse order of how you took it apart.
