Instructions

    • 1

Sit at a table opposite the other player and divide the cards between the two of you. Don't look at your cards in the beginning. Arrange five piles of cards and place them face down. The piles should be as follows from left to right: The initial pile should have a single card, the next pile has two and so on until you've reached the last pile, which should have five. Turn over the top of the card in every pile. Hold the remaining cards in your hand. These are the spit cards.

    • 2

Grip the spit cards and make sure you only use one hand while playing. Begin the session after each player is done setting up. Count to three out loud then declare "Spit." Simultaneously put the top cards within the in-hand spit cards in-between each of your setups. This forms two distinct "spit piles."

    • 3

Play a card that's one lower or higher than the top card pictured on the spit pile--for example, if one of the spit cards is a 7, you can put a 6 or an 8 on it. Utilize uncovered cards from your hand. Engage in the game and play cards quickly on both piles--this is definitely a game where speed counts. Whoever lays his hand down first wins that round.

    • 4

Show another card in your setup once you've utilized a card. Make sure that five cards are constantly exposed in plan view. Count to three out loud, then say "Spit" if you and your friend aren't able to play on the spit pile. Continue to play until either of you doesn't have any remaining cards. Now cease playing. Grab the smallest pile. Shuffle it and give the smaller stack to the person who finished first. The player who finished second has to play with the larger hand. Reshuffle the larger deck and make another setup.

    • 5

Keep on playing. Do this until a player doesn't hold enough cards to finish the setup. There will be only a single spit pile in the middle of the table since he won't hold any spit cards. You win the round if you don't have any cards at all.
