How to Remove a Hidden Keylogger
A keylogger is a software program or hardware device that can be hidden on a computer and used to record all of the keystrokes and passwords. These devices are often used by hackers to steal your personal information. They can also be used by bosses or family members to keep tabs of your computer activity. Although keyloggers can often be detected with anti-spyware software, the most effective way to remove a keylogger is with anti-keylogger software.

1
Check for hardware keyloggers. These devices are connected to the end of the cable on your keyboard and will plug directly into your computer. They are very small and difficult to detect.
-
2
Remove a hardware keylogger by unplugging your keyboard cable and checking to see if there is anything at the end of it. If there is, simply remove it and it will no longer be able to record.

3
Scan your system with anti-spyware software. If you have a software keylogger it is more difficult to remove. Download an anti-spyware program (see resources) and install it. Reboot your computer.
-
4
Click on the "Start Menu" and clicking on the anti-spyware program. Click on "Check for Problems" and wait for the program to complete a scan. This will take about 30 minutes to complete. Once it is finished it will ask you if you wish to "Remove the Threats." Click "Yes."
-
5
Install anti-keylogger software (see Resources).
-
6
Download and install the software. You will need to be running Windows XP, Vista, or 7 for it to work. Reboot your computer.
-
7
Go to the "Start Menu" and launch the software by clicking on it. When it starts it will ask you if you wish to start the program when Windows boots up. Click on the check box and click "OK."
The anti-keylogger software will automatically disable any keylogger that is installed on your system. You do not need to scan your computer as it will begin by blocking the algorithm that all keyloggers use to steal your data.
