How to Design Blogspot Templates
Blogspot, a free blogging resource available to users through Google's Blogger platform, provides a tool to design custom blog templates from within the Blogger dashboard. The tool, called Blogger Template Designer, allows users to play around with a variety of professionally designed templates, backgrounds, layouts and advanced customizations until they find the perfect design for their individual blog.

Access the template designer. From your Blogger dashboard, click on "Design" under the title of the blog you want to redesign. At the top of the page, to the right of "Page Elements" and "Edit HTML" under the "Design" tab, click on "Template Designer."

Choose a template. The page will automatically come up with six basic templates for you to choose from. Beneath each template are choices of color schemes. You will be able to see a live demo of your changes underneath the template designer tool before you actually apply any changes to your blog.

Design your background. After you have chosen your template, click on "Background" in the left-hand menu. Browse through the different background images and color themes until you find a combination you like.

Refine your layout. Click on "Layout" and select a main body layout that is best suited for your page elements and the image and visual flow of your blog. You can rearrange page elements in the screen underneath the template designer tool. Next, decide what type of footer layout you want. Finally, adjust the widths of your different blog elements by playing around with the pixel width bars for your sidebars and blog post sections.

Customize the advanced settings. Choose fonts for your tabs, date labels, posts and gadgets. Determine what colors you want different texts and links to be. Play around with background colors until everything matches and is up to your expectations.

Apply your changes. To update your blog to the new template, click the "Apply to Blog" button in the top right of your screen.
