How to Disable the Touchpad on a HP Pavilion Laptop

Like other laptops, the HP Pavilion laptop series features a built-in touchpad in lieu of an externally connected mouse. While most users become accustomed to using the touchpad instead of a mouse, others find that they prefer the feel of a mouse. Others may become frustrated because of accidental brushes against the touchpad while typing, which can cause the screen cursor to jump to a new spot and disrupt typing and concentration. You can either set the touchpad to disable while you're typing or completely disable the touchpad. If you decide to disable the touchpad completely, you'll need to use an external mouse.
