Secure passwords are key to a safe and pleasant online experience.

It's important to keep personal computer accounts, such as a Skype account, safe and secure. If someone gets access to your Skype account, he may be able to see personal information about you and the people you talk to, such as credit card numbers and home addresses. If you're suspicious that someone may be accessing your Skype account without your permission or if you forgot to log out on a computer other than your own, you need to know how to securely change your Skype account password.

Tips & Warnings

  • A good password contains a combination of letters and numbers so that a person trying to access your account without your permission will have a harder time figuring it out. Do not make your password something that everyone would know about you. For example, if you are a Labrador Retriever enthusiast, do not make your password "Labrador." Instead, use the name of your dog in combination with the numerical date it was born.

  • Write your password down somewhere safe in your house so that you do not forget it, but do not indicate what it is for in case someone finds your note.
