How to Remove an AirPort Card From a PowerBook G4
While some think the PowerBook G4 has already lost its cutting edge luster compared to other notebook models, many still depend on it. The PowerBook G4's AirPort card can be replaced with a newer model to make it work more effectively. If you want to install a new AirPort card, you first need to remove the old one from the bottom case of your PowerBook's battery. The removal process can be done in under five minutes.

Loosen the bottom case of your PowerBook G4 to access the AirPort card. Use your screwdriver to remove the eight screws from your PowerBook's bottom case.

Lift the case gently in order to expose the location of the AirPort card. Don't hit or scratch the DVD drive area as it's one of the most delicate parts of your PowerBook G4. You may risk breaking the track pad if you damage the DVD drive area.

Remove the casing as soon as it becomes loose and place it on a flat clean surface. Locate the metal clip which is holding the cable connector of your PowerBook in place.

Use your finger to gently pry back the metal clip and pull it up onto your cable. Release the AirPort card from the connector by pulling it up.

Tips & Warnings
If you have trouble pulling the connector out while you are holding onto the AirPort card, use a pair of long-nose pliers. Apply as little force as possible so as not to break the connector or the card.
Be careful when lifting the bottom case of your PowerBook G4 so as not to break the track pad casing. Apply very little force when lifting the case.
