A bike trailer is an attachment that you hook on to your bicycle. A bike trailer is an extra seat and set of pedals, usually for a child. The bike trailer is attached to an adult bike and allows both people to ride together. Despite different manufacturers, bike trailers are attached in very similar ways. Bike trailers are usually attached at the seat post of the adult bike. This attachment only requires the use of one common tool and usually takes less than 15 minutes.

  1. Attaching a Trailer Bike

      Prepare the adult bike for bike trailer attachment by adjusting the height of the adult bike seat post. The adult bike seat should be high enough so that the coupler for the bike trailer can easily attach to the adult bike.

      Unscrew the bolts located on the coupler using an Allen wrench. Remove the seat post clamp plate from the seat post clamp.

      Place the bike trailer behind the adult bike. Position the seat post clamp against the adult bike seat post.

      Place the seat post clamp plate against the seat post clamp. The adult bike seat post should now be in between the seat post clamp and the seat post clamp plate.

      Re-screw the bolts in place. Make sure the adult bike and trailer bike are correctly aligned. Make sure the bolts are screwed tightly.
