How to Fade to Black in Premiere Pro 1.5
After slicing, grouping and adjusting clips together to form a cohesive, understandable video, the editor's final signature could be as simple as the last transition: fade to black. According to "Media College" the dissolve or crossfade is second only to the cut as the most common transition in editing. It is also the transition used to create the "Fade to black" effect.
Instructions
-
-
1
Open Premiere Pro 1.5
-
2
Open whichever existing project file you wish: Click "File" on the top left corner of the program. Click "Open" and browse the hard drive to find the correct project file.
-
-
3
Open the Effects window: Click "Windows" then "Effects"
-
4
Type "Cross Dissolve" in the search bar within the Effects panel.
-
5
Ensure the desired clip in which you want to fade to black does not have another clip immediately following. Click and drag the Cross Dissolve effect from the Effects window and drop on the end of the desired clip, thus creating a transition. If in fact there are no additional clips directly lined up next to your transition clip, this will create a fade to black effect.
