Instructions

    • 1

Boot up the iMac computer. Select the CD that you wish to copy. Insert the CD into the CD disk drive, located on the front of the iMac computer. Wait until the system recognizes the disk. Eject, clean, and reinsert the disk if the iMac refuses to recognize the disk. Open iTunes and wait until the disk appears in the iTunes window. Click on the Import button in the lower right portion of the iTunes window. Wait until all of the tracks are imported into the iTunes library. Eject the disk and put it in an appropriate location.

Find the newly imported songs in the iTunes library. Make sure the songs are correctly labeled and tagged. Select the songs and edit the tags collectively by choosing Get Info in the drop-down File menu, if editing is necessary.

Locate the song files for the album. Right or control click on one of the songs in the iTunes window and select Show in Finder. This will pull up the folder created by iTunes on the iMac's hard drive. Make sure there are no song duplicates and that the songs are correctly named.

Insert a blank recordable CD into the CD disk drive. Wait until the iMac recognizes the blank CD on the desktop. There are two ways to make a new copy of the CD you imported. To burn the CD through iTunes, click on the Add Playlist icon in the lower left portion of the iTunes window and drag the songs you wish to copy into the playlist. Open the playlist, and click on "Burn Disk" in the lower right corner of the application. Wait until the songs successfully write onto the disk and iTunes recognizes the newly copied CD. Eject, label and enjoy the disk.

Alternatively, open the new CD icon on the desktop. Open the folder of songs you wish to copy from your hard drive. Select the files, and drag them into the blank disk window. Click "Burn Disk" to write the songs onto the CD.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can reorder the songs in the iTunes burn playlist or in the blank CD window any way you like.

  • Never eject the disk before the writing is complete; premature ejection could cause permanent damage to the disk.
