How to Hit More Fairways in Golf
While there is no surefire way to keep your golf drive straight every time, there are a number of steps you can take to put yourself in the best position to hit your driver down the middle of the fairway. Hitting a straight drive is found in your backswing, downswing, body angle, grip, club angle, stance and other factors. Doing all of these things right, and putting them all together, will keep the ball on the line you want it to hit more fairways.

1
Line the ball in the middle of your stance before your swing. You may be hitting the ball to either side because the angle of your swing is forcing it left or right by the time it reaches the ball in the front or back of your stance.
-
2
Straighten your backswing. You may be pushing or pulling the ball because your swing is wrapped too far around your body. In this case, bring it up straighter back and over your head. If your swing is too far straight back, adjust the angle to feel your front arm press across your chest.

Line you feet up aiming right with your club still aimed at the target if your are prone to slicing. Line your feet up aiming left with your club still at the target if you are prone to pulling the ball. If you are a left-handed golfer, reverse these instructions.
-
4
Rotate your bottom hand on the club farther toward the left if your are pulling the ball. Rotate it farther to the right (so you can see more knuckles) if you are slicing the ball.
-
5
Snap your wrists quicker through the impact zone if you are slicing the ball, and hold them off a little slower if you are pulling the ball.
-
6
Open your hips more quickly before contact if you are pulling them ball, and keep them closed longer if you are slicing it.
