How to Become a Flight Attentant in Texas
Airlines that fly customers hire flight attendants for public safety and customer service. A flight attendant serves the customers in-flight meals and drinks, answers questions and provides safety information during the flight. Texas has several flight attendant training programs and many jobs available due to the large airport in Houston and the smaller airports available around the state. The average salary for most Texas flight attendants is around $50,000 after gaining experience, though starting salaries are usually around $25,000 to $30,000 a year, depending on the company and the airport.

1
Obtain a high school diploma. Every airline requires a high school diploma for flight attendants. Some airlines require some college education or classes beyond a high school diploma, but the minimum requirements for every airline include a high school degree. Airlines requiring further education typically prefer classes that focus on communication, such as speech. Texas state does not require a college degree, but companies might prefer flight attendants with a degree.

3
Apply for flight attendant positions. Airlines will require proof of citizenship or permission to work in the U.S., a high school diploma, experience in customer service and the ability to reach overhead compartments. Applications are sent to the airline rather than the airport and it is ultimately the airline company that hires.

4
Obtain certification. Certification is given through the Federal Aviation Administration, or FAA, after completing the flight attendant training and demonstrating knowledge of the job and emergency situations. Certification is required on a federal level rather than a state level, so every flight attendant in Texas must obtain certification.
