How to Create Your Own Sailor Character

Creating a Sailor character requires a basic appearance design.

Sailor Moon is a popular anime and manga which started airing during the 1990s. The Sailor Scouts were heroines that saved the planet from evil forces. The popularity of the Sailor Moon anime and manga led to fanfiction, RPGs and creative Sailor Scout dress up games. Creating new sailor characters is important when joining an RPG or writing a fanfiction because the characters in the show are limited--and new characters don't have the well known powers of the original Sailors in the show.

1. Write a character history. The history of any Sailor, whether in an RPG, fanfiction or even a book makes up the attitude and actions of the character. The designer of a character needs to determine its attitude and personality traits, which often dictate hairstyles, clothing and similar physical traits.

2. Develop and write the Sailor character's appearance. The physical traits of the Sailor might differ slightly between the sailor form of the character or the regular form of the character--but the main traits are similar, such as blue eyes and blonde hair. Keep in mind that Sailor characters can have any color eyes, hair and physical appearance and they're not limited to real life appearances.

3. Write the character's name, birthday and alias name. The alias name will be their senshi or soldier name--the real name is typically different. For example, Sailor Moon is the senshi name while Usagi is the character name during everyday life.

4. Design the Sailor outfit. Sailor Scout outfits typically have short skirts, a sailor top, a bow in the back, gloves and high heeled shoes. The design is your personal preference, but should resemble original Sailor Scout clothing designs.

5. Invent the character's abilities. The powers of Sailor Scouts differ and are usually based on elemental powers such as water or fire. Avoid powers that don't have weaknesses. The abilities should always take the Sailor's strengths and weaknesses into account. For example, a character with powers relating to fire should have weaknesses that encompass water.
