How to Make a Heart Without Scissors, Glue or Tape
The ability to make a paper heart without scissors, tape or glue comes in handy in last-minute situations. If you forget someone on Valentine's day or maybe a special anniversary, making a heart in minutes with only a pencil and construction paper can save the day. For children who have issues using scissors and glue, being capable to create a heart without the apparatus gives them the power of creation. Always supervise young crafters while working, even in the absence of obviously dangerous items.
Instructions
-
-
1
Lay a piece of pink or red paper on your work surface. Choose traditional construction or tissue paper.
-
2
Draw a heart on the paper with a pencil or a fine point pen. Make the heart the size and shape you desire.
-
-
3
Retrace the heart you have drawn applying slight pressure to the existing lines. Run the pencil or pen over the original lines several times until the paper begins to thin around the drawn heart.
-
4
Tear the paper along the drawn lines. The paper will tear easily along the lines leaving only a fuzzy edge.
-
5
Rub your fingers gently around the outside of your torn-out heart to smooth the edges.

Tips & Warnings
Wet your finger slightly prior to smoothing the edges for a smoother finish.
A medium pen or dull pencil will not thin the paper as much as a sharp pencil or fine point pen. Be careful of paper cuts when smoothing the edges.
