How To Remove Data From the External Data Range in Excel 2007

An external data range in the Microsoft Excel 2007 application is a defined table of cells imported from a separate workbook location. An external data range is also often referred to as a query table, and once it's connected to any type of external data the data range is automatically created. The Data tab on the Word 2007 toolbar can be used to help remove specific data from the external data range within the workbook.

Instructions

    • 1

Select the range of data to be removed from the external data range within the spreadsheet.

    • 2

Click on the "Data" tab. Click on the arrow next to the "Refresh" field in the "Connection" group.

    • 3

Click on the "Connection Properties" option and then click on the "Usage" tab. Click on the box next to the "Remove data from the external data range before saving the workbook" field.

    • 4

Close out of the dialog box and click on the "Refresh Data" option from the "Data" tab. The data will be fully removed from the external data range.
