Instructions

    • 1

Register a domain name. This is the name of your webpage. For example the domain name of this site is "eHow.com." You will need to visit a site registrar to obtain your domain name and pay an annual fee to maintain it. Prices vary, but many can be obtained for as little as $10.

Choose a Web hosting program and sign up for an account. The Web host is essentially a company that stores your website on its servers and sends the page out onto the Internet. Web hosting can be obtained through various sites. Pricing depends on the site, but often hosting can be obtained for only a few dollars a month.

Obtain a Web designing program. Many are available. You can purchase software such as DreamWeaver or download free programs such as KompoZer. Using the programs tools, you will be able to choose the layout, font and color for your page. You will be able to create your main page and any sub-pages you choose (additional information, about, privacy policy, etc.) You can also upload images and videos if you so desire. Each program comes with its own set of features and limitations. Research different programs to see which ones suit your needs. Once you save and update your site on the Web host's servers, the page will be published to the Internet

Test your website. Open up any browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc.) and type the domain name into the box at the top. Press enter. If the webpage looks as you intended, your efforts have been successful. If not, you will need to go back into your Web design program to make adjustments.

Submit your site to search engines. Go to the various search engine sites and find out how to go about submitting your site to them. Follow whatever procedure they list to get your site noticed.
