Windows XP was created in several different languages to enable people from all over the world to use the operating system. Changing the language and keyboard layout of Windows XP will make it so that all of the text within XP will appear in your language. You can very simply change the language and keyboard layout in the Windows Control Panel. The Chinese language is one of the languages you can install on Windows XP.

      Click "Start" and go to "Control Panel." Switch the Control Panel to "Classic View," then click "Regional and Language Settings."

      Click on the "Languages" tab, then check the box that says "Install Files for East Asian Languages." Click "Details..." and then click "Add."

      Select "Chinese (PRC)" under "Input Languages," and select "Chinese (Simplified)" under "Keyboard Layout." Click "OK" to exit this window; then click "Apply" on the "Regional and Language Options" window to apply these changes.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can add a language bar that will appear on your taskbar that will allow you to switch back and forth between multiple languages. Select this option from the "Preferences" section of the "Regional and Language Options" window.
