How to Delete Unneeded Files From a Hard Drive

Over time, it is almost inevitable you will end up with files you are no longer using. Any time a new file is stored on your computer, it will stay there until you manually delete it. Retaining files you no longer need can clutter up your hard drive space. Deleting unneeded files will give you more hard drive space and allow you to load additional files and programs. Deleting unneeded files from your hard drive will take you about five minutes to complete.

      Double-click the "My Computer" icon found on the desktop.

      Navigate to the file that you want to delete.

      Click the file once.

      Press the "Delete" key.

      Confirm that you wish to send the file to the "Recycle Bin."

      Double-click the "Recycle Bin," found on the desktop.

      Click on the "File" tab, then click on "Empty Recycle Bin."
