How to Make Hemp Hula Hoops

Hula hoops are hoop toys that are twirled around the body, usually on the waist, neck, arms and legs. Using hula hoops as an exercise routine has shown remarkable results in slimming. Nowadays, the popular term for using hula hoops is ″hooping″ and it has been incorporated into many other activities, such as dancing and gymnastics. You can make your own version of a hula hoop using hemp to cover the hoop.

Instructions

    • 1

Decide on the diameter of the hula hoop for you. Multiply this number by 3.14. This will give you the length of tubing you will need.

    • 2

Take some irrigation tubing and cut it into size using a handsaw.

    • 3

Take a hair dryer and heat one end of the tubing. You can also place that end into hot water. This is done in order to make it more flexible.

    • 4

Push the coupling into that tube end and connect the two opposite ends of the tube. Insert the connector halfway on one end of the tubing and then push the other end of the tubing over the other half of the connector. Tape the ends together with duct tape.

    • 5

Wrap the hemp around the tubing. Start at the connected ends of the tubing, apply a bead of hot glue and wrap the hemp tape around the tubing. Wrap until the whole hoop is covered with hemp. Secure the end of the hemp tape onto the tubing with hot glue.
