How to Add MP3s to QuickTime

In order to add MP3s to QuickTime files, it is essential use QuickTime Pro. The licensed upgrade to Apple's free media player, QuickTime Pro enables users to edit compatible media. MOV is a multimedia container that is used to compress digital video. As a proprietary Apple format, it is native to the QuickTime media player.       Upgrade to QuickTime Pro. Go to the "Help" tab on the program menu and select "Buy QuickTime Pro." Follow the checkout instructions to purchase the program license. When the transaction has been finalized, the QuickTime Pro features will be unlocked.

      Open your MP3 file in QuickTime. Set in and out points on the audio file. This will indicate which portion of audio you wish to copy. Go to the "Edit" tab and select "Copy."

  • If users wish to disable an MOV file's original audio in favor of the copied MP3 audio, go to the "Window" tab and select "Show Movie Properties." View the file's track listing in the Movie Properties screen and manually de-select the MOV file's original soundtrack.

  • QuickTime Pro can be used to stream other types of media besides its native MOV format. The media player can open MP4, DV and MPG video files, AAC, AIFF, MIDI and WAV audio files and JPEG, BMP and TIFF image files. As a result, the program can also add copied MP3 audio to this supported media.
