Users can send text messages to and from any email account.

Microsoft Outlook 2007 allows PC users to manager their email, contacts and calendars from one application. You can use Microsoft Outlook 2007 to send text messages to cell phones, directly from your email account. To send a text message to a cell phone, you must know the text-message email address assigned to the cell phone number that you would like to text.

Instructions

    • 1

Open Microsoft Outlook 2007 and compose a new email by clicking the button labeled "New" in the top-left corner of the window.

    • 2

Enter the recipient's text-message email address in the "To" field of the newly composed email. To find the text-message email address, you can have the intended recipient send from the phone a text message directly to your email address by inserting your email address instead of your telephone number into the "To" field of the text message.

    • 3

Enter your message and click "Send" to send the text message. Most cell phones limit the number of characters that can be included in a single text message to around 160 (including spaces and punctuation), so long messages may be delivered in multiple texts.

Tips & Warnings

  • Your email account must be setup to send and receive text messages in Microsoft Outlook 2007 prior to sending a message. To set up your email account, click "Tools" followed by "Account Settings." Click "New" under the tab labeled "Email" and then follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.
