How to Disable BitTorrent

BitTorrent is a software client that allows users to download files known as torrents. BitTorrent functions as a peer-to-peer program. A user both uploads and downloads sections of a file simultaneously. The user also downloads multiple sections of a file from different users at the same time, resulting in faster download time. Some employers and schools may find BitTorrent unacceptable for use on their networks, since there are torrent files of movies and music that can be downloaded that violate copyright laws. Luckily, disabling BitTorrent and removing it from your computer is a simple process.

Instructions

1. Click on the "Start" button at the bottom corner of your desktop and click "Control Panel" from the "Start" Menu.

2. Click "Uninstall a program," under the "Programs" heading. This will take you to a window that will show you programs that are currently installed on your computer.

3. Locate BitTorrent in the window of programs and click on it to highlight it.

4. Click on the "Uninstall" button that appears at the top of the window. Wait for the program to uninstall.
