Clip art adds a nice touch to documents.

A slightly less sophisticated word processing program, Microsoft Works Word Processor is usually a cheaper or free alternative to the highly regarded Microsoft Word program. Microsoft Works comes pre-installed on many Windows computer systems, and the program can do many of the same things as Microsoft Word, including adding clip art to your document. Adding clip art will significantly increase the size of your document, but the process is short and it will take you longer to browse their large library than it will to place the actual clip art.

Instructions

    • 1

Open "Microsoft Works Word Processor" by clicking a shortcut from the desktop, from the "Start" menu, or by opening any document created in Microsoft Works.

    • 2

Move the blinking reticule (cursor) to wherever you want the image to be placed. If you are working in a new document, you can move the image around as you work.

    • 3

Click "Insert" on the top toolbar.

    • 4

Hover you mouse icon over "Picture." The button will light up and a menu will expand to the right.

    • 5

Click "Clip Art" from the newly expanded menu. It is the top button on the list.

    • 6

Browse through the clip art available. Sort the art by category or by typing in a keyword.

    • 7

Click on the desired image and it will appear in the document. Alter the size of the image by clicking and dragging one of the eight squares around the edge of the image. Move the image by clicking and dragging the image to your desired destination.
