How to Enable Windows Live Messenger Through a Firewall

Depending on how high you set your firewall, you could be blocking Windows Live Messenger on your computer. By allowing Windows Live Messenger through the Windows firewall, you are giving yourself and people on the computer access to the program. Windows Live Messenger is a safe program to allow through your firewall. It is usually the users on the program who can get hacked and make it not safe to use.

Instructions

1. Press the "Start" menu and go to "Control Panel."

2. Open "Security" and then open "Windows Firewall."

3. Choose "Allow a program through a Windows Firewall."

4. Check off Windows Live Messenger from the program list.

5. Click "Apply" to save your settings.

6. Click "OK" to close the window.
