How to Connect a Laptop to Comcast Wireless Internet

Comcast Cable offers television, voice and Internet services to its consumers. The company delivers its wireless Internet service through Netgear wireless modems available for purchase or rental on your monthly bill. Connecting to your Comcast Internet on your laptop is no different than connecting to any other wireless network. Just verify that your wireless Internet service is set up and then use the Network and Sharing Center to connect the laptop.

Things You'll Need

• Comcast wireless router
• LAN cable

Instructions

1. Verify that your Comcast Internet service has been set up. Connect your Comcast Internet wireless modem to your laptop using the LAN cable supplied by Comcast if you have not already set up the modem. Insert the installation CD that came with the modem. Follow the on-screen prompts to set up the name and password. Click “Finish” to close the program when you are done. Disconnect LAN cable from your laptop.

2. Click the "Start" button on your wireless laptop. Click “Control Panel.” Open the Network and Internet section. Click “Connect to a network.”

3. Find your Comcast wireless Internet in the list of available Internet connections within range. Click it and click “Connect.” Enter the password you set up in Step 1. Click “Connect.”

• Comcast provides a basic modem for its Internet service unless you ask for a wireless modem. If you do not use the Comcast wireless modem, you will have to buy and set up a separate wireless router.
