How to Speed Up a Yamaha Gas Golf Cart

Yamaha is among the leading manufacturers of golf carts, which feature a variety of speed options, just as many other carts do. While these vehicles are often restricted to around 10 to 15 miles per hour by factory standards and settings, you can speed up your cart in a variety of ways to have it moving as fast as 20 to 25 miles per hour. You can speed up your Yamaha gas golf cart with a number of simple tweaks.

Power clean your cart using a hose, water and soap. Be sure to remove any excess dirt and grime from the wheels and wheel wells to allow your cart to operate at its most efficient.

Remove any unnecessary accessories from the cart to lighten the cart's weight.

Remove the restrictor from underneath the cart's gas pedal. This is usually a metal rod that prevents the driver from pressing the pedal completely. You can remove it with a wrench and a screwdriver.

Open the seat of your cart to access the engine underneath. Push the governor toward the carburetor to remove this speed restriction. The governor is a T-shaped metal rod that you will find fastened with a rubber band or duct tape toward the cylinders of the carburetor.
