The toastmaster at any event is in charge not only of making toasts, but programming the aspects of an event. Toastmasters are used at weddings, charity events and other gatherings where public speaking is a large part of the program. A toastmaster is sometimes called the "master of ceremonies." Practice speaking in front of a mirror. Speaking is the primary skill of a toastmaster. The way you speak is important. Develop a strong voice that has slight tonal variation. Avoid monotone, which can put an audience to sleep. Read to yourself in the mirror and focus on enunciation and inflection for delivery. Pay attention to facial expressions as well.

2
Write speeches, introductions and announcements. While a toastmaster may read material written by others, he should have the ability to compose his own speeches and toasts. Practice writing original, entertaining toasts for specific events. This will help keep your writing skills sharp and allow you to create compelling toasts and speeches at the spur of the moment.
