If you decide that you no longer have a need to remote into a computer desktop using the VNC server or have found an alternative that you would rather use, it is a good idea to remove the VNC server application from the computer for both performance and security reasons. Removing the VNC server application can be accomplished in a few steps.

Instructions

      Click the "Start" button, then click "Control Panel" and then "Add or Remove Programs" in Windows XP or click "Programs" or "Programs and Features" if your computer is running Windows Vista or Windows 7.

      Scroll through the list of programs to find and then click on the VNC entry to select it.

      Click the "Remove" button if you're running Windows XP or click the "Uninstall" link if you're running Windows Vista or Windows 7.

      Click the "Continue" button if a UAC (User Account Control) window appears.

    • 5

      Click the "OK" button to complete the uninstall.

Tips & Warnings

  • After uninstall is complete, it is always best to reboot the computer to refresh the registry settings.
