How to Run the Dell Operating System Reinstallation CD
Dell often ships its Operating System Reinstallation discs with computers instead of Windows CDs and DVDs. Despite the absence of a Windows logo on the discs, the installation process runs similarly to a standard Windows installation. Insert the disc, restart your computer and follow the intuitive instructions.

Insert the reinstallation disc into your CD/DVD drive.

Restart your computer.

Press F12 immediately when the Dell logo appears on the screen. If you miss your chance, wait to see if the message, "Press any key to boot from the CD or DVD," appears. If so, press "Enter" and skip to Step 5. Otherwise, restart your computer and try again.

Select your CD/DVD drive from the Boot Menu. Press "Enter."

Confirm settings on the first several screens, including language settings, time and currency settings, and input settings, after your operating system setup has begun running.

Click on the menu choice for "Install now."

Accept the license agreement.

Choose a default installation. Select "Next."

Choose a user name and a password.

Accept default settings on the screens that follow. When time settings appear, select your time zone.

Click "Start" on the next screen.
