How to Repair a Dishwasher Motor
Occasionally, the dishwasher motor will wear out or stop working because of wear and tear or faulty parts. The motor is combined as a unit with the pump, requiring that both be removed together. The easiest and most cost-efficient way to repair the motor is to replace the part. You can repair the dishwasher motor yourself, saving the time and money of calling a repairman. Turn the breaker switch off for the dishwasher motor at the breaker box. Locate the access panel on the bottom of the dishwasher.

Unfasten the screws on the access panel with a screwdriver. Move the access panel out of the way.

Pull the dishwasher door open, removing the lower dishrack. Lift the spray tower assembly and spray arms out of the dishwasher by hand.

Unfasten the lead wires on the motor on the bottom of the dishwasher from the electrical wiring harness by hand. Undo the screw clamp around the pump hose with a screwdriver, pulling the hose away from the pump.

Take the pump and motor assembly out of the bottom of the dishwasher, lifting it out by hand. Place the new pump and motor assembly into the bottom of the dishwasher.

Slide the pump hose onto the water pump, securing the screw clamp with a screwdriver. Connect the lead wires on the motor to the electrical wire harness by hand.

Place the spray tower assembly and spray arms back into the dishwasher. Slide the lower dishrack inside the dishwasher.

Close the dishwasher door, attaching the access panel to the bottom of the dishwasher front with screws. Turn the breaker switch on for the dishwasher at the breaker box.
