How to Build a DIY Butterfly House
Butterflies are one of the most beautiful creatures in the world. Keeping butterflies near your garden does not only add to its colorful and soothing environment, but it also gives you more reason to enjoy your time there. Providing a safe shelter for your butterflies is one way for you to protect them from harsh weather, as well as predators hunting them for food. Things You'll Need
- 72 x 36-inch of bridal netting
- 6-inch string
- 12-inch string
- 2 circles of cut corrugated cardboard, each with a 14-inch diameter
- Hot glue
- Old branch
- Electric Driller
- Hook

Lay the bridal netting horizontally and fold it into three equal parts. You should have a netting folded so that the height of the netting is 36 inches and each fold is 24 inches wide.

Use your 6-inch string to tie around the end of your folded bridal netting and to seal the opening. Tie the knot securely to make sure that the butterflies won't escape the net.

Tie the other end of the bridal netting using the 12-inch string to also prevent the butterflies from escaping through the other end. Use the loose ends of the longer string to tie a loop to use as a means to hang your butterfly house in your garden.

See to it that both ends of your bridal netting are securely tied by tugging the strings with your fingers and checking if they would easily get loose. The only opening of your net tube should be its overlapping ends.

Get the circle of cardboard and place it at the bottom of your hanging netting. Slip the cardboard in between the overlapping layers of the netting. Lay the circle down to make the diameter of the cardboard parallel to the ceiling and floor when hung.

Place the second cardboard circle at the end of your netting from which you will hang your butterfly house. Use hot glue to secure it to the netting and wait for the glue to dry for at least 1 hour.

Put a tree branch inside the butterfly house, giving your butterflies a place to land.

Drill a hole in your ceiling using your electric driller and screw the hook with your hands by turning it clockwise. Hang the butterfly house from the hook using the end with the longer string.

Slip the butterflies in the house through the overlapping sections of your netting.
