How to Delete Direct Messages on Twitter

Twitter is a way to network with friends through short updates posted on your Twitter homepage. Like other social networking sites, you can send messages to one person instead of an update that everyone can read. These messages on Twitter are called direct messages. Once you have read the direct message, or want to empty your inbox or sent messages to make more room, you can delete one or more direct messages.

Things You'll Need

• Computer with Internet connection
• Twitter account

Instructions

1. Log in to your account from Twitter's homepage. It will take you to your Twitter homepage.

2. Click "Direct Messages" in the green sidebar on the right side of the screen, just above the "Search" box.

3. Put your cursor over the direct message you want to delete. In the lower right corner of the message, the words "Reply" and "Delete" should appear.

4. Move your cursor to the lower right side of the message and click "Delete."

5. Put your cursor over the next direct message and click "Delete." Continue until you have deleted all the direct messages you no longer want.

6. Click the "Sent" tab, put your cursor over a message and click "Delete" to get rid of sent messages.
